Hughes Helps

Hughes Federal Credit Union believes in giving back to the community we serve through sponsorships and donations. Every year, Hughes looks to help numerous local organizations that are just as dedicated to improving the overall well-being of our community as we are with financial support, giveaway items, adult and youth financial education, and much more. Hughes has provided support to countless local organizations like the Tucson Medical Center Foundation, the AZ Financial Face-Off, Pima County JTED (Joint Technical Education District), United Way and the Community Food Bank.

If your organization or group would like to request a sponsorship or donation, please submit a request through our  sponsorship request form. Preference is given to organizations or charities that:

  • Promote youth and adult financial literacy
  • Focus on STEM (science, technology, engineering and math)
  • Provide business development opportunities

To ensure necessary review and processing time, requests must be received at least sixty (60) days prior to the requested support deadline.

NOTE: Hughes does not provide sponsorship or donations to individuals. Only verified organizations or groups making requests will be considered. (Special consideration will be given to first responders and military.) Submitting a request does not ensure its fulfillment. We receive far more requests for support than we are able to grant, and declining a request does not imply that the applicant organization is not valued or worthy of support.

Hughes in the Community

Woman stands with boy in front of a San Miguel banner.

San Miguel High School Corporate Work Study Program- We’ve had the joy of mentoring the incredible Bryan, San Miguel's class president and a future sports journalist for the past two years. Watching him grow and thrive has truly been a highlight for us all.

San Miguel honored us with a 15-Year Partnership Award and a Student Choice Award, made even more special by Bryan’s heartfelt nomination and speech about his time at Hughes. His words were a vivid reminder of why we invest in our community’s youth.

Arizona Financial Face-Off- Hughes is proud to be a long-time supporter of the Arizona Financial Face-Off and Take Charge Cats. This fun and engaging competition for students fosters a financially savvy generation ready to tackle tomorrow. Kudos to all the participants and winning teams!

  • Arizona Gives Day- Hughes was thrilled to take part in this annual celebration of giving to the incredible nonprofits that make Arizona a better place. This year we proudly supported Literacy Connects, Escalante en Esperanza, and Youth on Their Own.
  • ReSources Vail Foodbank- Our team helped fill the pantry at ReSources Vail Foodbank! We helped Vail spring into action with a food drive between April 5-19. Our community came together to collect non-perishable food items at our Houghton branch location in Vail.
  • JA Heroes- Hughes proudly supported Junior Achievement Tucson at the JA Heroes Event. These local leaders are transforming lives by equipping Tucson-era students with vital skills in financial literacy, workforce readiness, and entrepreneurship.
  • Educational Enrichment Foundation- Hughes team members were thrilled to help provide shoes for children at Bloom Elementary, Booth Fickett, and Harold Steele Elementary School. EEF works with Tucson Unified School District (TUSD) to provide kids with the resources they need to succeed in their education and lives.
  • El Rio Health Foundation- Our team attended the foundation’s Appreciation Luncheon, where Hughes was proudly recognized as a member of the Oro Giving Club. We have contributed to the foundation to provide life-changing medical, dental, behavioral health services, and supportive care for those in our community who need it most.
  • Angel Charity for Children- They continue to display their commitment to the welfare of Tucson's children. Their ongoing projects continue to inspire and make a real difference. Hughes proudly supports their work in our community. Join us in supporting their continuous efforts to give children the opportunities they deserve. Learn how at www.angelcharity.org
  • Girl Scouts of Southern Arizona-  At the Cookies and Cocktails event, local chefs made the Girl Scout Cookie Dessert Challenge special as we toasted the Girl Scouts. They have empowered young girls to navigate challenges with courage, confidence, and character for many years.
  • Pima JTED Annual Program Showcase- This year's showcase was an awesome display of 32 career and technical education programs. Students shone bright, demonstrating their skills and the real-world applications of their learning. Our IT & Cybersecurity team also cheered on these young innovators!
  • Arizona Women's Basketball- Hughes sponsored the game day for the Arizona Women’s Basketball game against Stanford. The team gave it their all, and our pride as the title sponsor for University of Arizona Women’s sports was on full display!
  • Diamond Children’s Center- Hughes team members were thrilled to make a very special delivery of over 230 toys to Diamond Children’s Medical Center. The Diamond Children’s Medical Hospital is a sanctuary where young warriors battle health challenges with the best care team in Southern Arizona. Shoutout to the incredible team at Diamond Children’s and the Hughes team for their donations.
  • Habitat for Humanity- It’s an exciting day and we're brimming with pride! Gabrijela, after 250 hours of dedication and a journey filled with hope, has stepped into her new home, crafted through her hard work and our Hughes Helps team's support. We all rolled up our sleeves to make this dream a reality.
  • Savma- Southern Arizona Volunteer Management Association- We’re celebrating our incredible volunteers! Hughes is proud to shine a spotlight on the Awards, where everyday heroes who generously give their time, energy, and skills to better our community were honored. Congratulations to all the remarkable honorees of the SAVMA Awards! Each contribution is a step toward a brighter future in Southern Arizona.
  • American Red Cross- Hughes teamed up with the American Red Cross for a blood drive at our Wetmore location. Did you know just one donation can save up to three lives? Every drop counts in the journey to make a massive impact. A huge thank you to everyone who participated.
  • Children's Clinics - Hughes had the joy of joining the Children's Clinics for their Bike Decorating Party! The Children’s Clinics serves as a vital medical home for many families, offering comprehensive care with a touch of magic. Our Hughes Helps team loved being part of the decorating fun, and we’re proud to support such a meaningful event. These experiences remind us of the importance of our involvement in the community and the fulfillment that comes from giving back.
  • Girl Scouts of Southern Arizona - What an exhilarating way to support an amazing cause! Our very own Branch Manager, Correy Ellis, rappelled down a 190-feet building for the Girl Scouts of Southern Arizona's Over the Edge event. Talk about taking support to new heights!
  • Arizona Athletics - Our support for The University of Arizona and Arizona Athletics teams is a proud tradition at Hughes. From the KidCats program nurturing young fans to backing over 30 Arizona Athletics teams, our connection runs deep.
  • Tucson Roadrunners - What's better than a hockey game? A game that also scores big in education! We're still buzzing from the thrill of the Tucson Roadrunners’ School Game Day event. A big stick tap to the Roadrunners for making learning come alive on ice! Hughes was incredibly proud to support this awesome event. Hosting our local elementary schools for free and weaving in educational elements throughout the game was a goal worth cheering for.

  • Junior Achievement of Arizona - Guess what we’ve been up to? Celebrating tomorrow's shining stars at Junior Achievement of Arizona's 'Keys to Success' bash! As a proud event sponsor, we’re thrilled to see an assembly of dreams, and aspirations, and the community coming together to invest in our future. We had the privilege of hearing from the inspiring Marisol Vindiola from Visit Tucson, who took us on a journey through her own Junior Achievement experience in Mexico.

  • Sonoran Science Academy Tucson - Embarking on a mission to cultivate future leaders and global citizens, the Sonoran Science Academy Tucson is shaping minds with its rigorous STEM-focused, college-prep curriculum! Last week, Hughes was overjoyed to support the school’s awesome volleyball team by providing tickets to a University of Arizona volleyball game! A little cheer, support, and community spirit go a long way in nurturing the seeds of tomorrow’s triumphs!
