Through its Hughes Helps Program, Hughes Federal Credit Union recently made an in-kind donation of information technology equipment to the Pima County Joint Technical Education District (JTED) valued at over $25,000.

The donation included two HP server environments and two data storage arrays. This IT equipment allows users to run hundreds of servers simultaneously with less equipment, which saves energy and allows for centralized and efficient data storage. By providing this equipment, Hughes hopes that IT students will be exposed to curriculum that wouldn’t normally be available.

“We are happy to have created a relationship with Pima County JTED by supporting their IT training programs through the donation of relevant equipment” explained Rich Griesser, Vice President of IT at Hughes. “This donation is intended to provide a unique experience and insight for JTED students by allowing them to work with technology that will likely be used in real life settings in an IT department once they graduate from their program.”

Hughes is dedicated to the National Credit Union philosophy of “People Helping People,” which is why the Hughes Helps program was created. In 2016 Hughes Federal Credit contributed over $36,000 towards local education programs, including JTED.
