Money Market Savings Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a limit of withdrawals I can make per month?

There are no limits to the number of withdrawals per month. However, each withdrawal must be for $500 or more. 

Can my Money Market Savings be used as Overdraft Protection for my Checking account?

No, but you can always transfer funds from your Money Market Savings online, over the phone, or in-person. 

Is there a minimum withdrawal amount?

All withdrawals must be for $500 or more.

Is there a minimum deposit amount?

No, you can deposit any amount.

Is there a penalty to close this account?

No, there is no penalty; however, dividends are credited quarterly so there could be a forfeiture of dividends if the account is closed prior to dividends being credited on January 1, April 1, July 1, and October 1.

If I am already a member, can I open this account online?

Yes! Log in to Hughes and go to Accounts > Open Account.

Do you issue checks on this account?

No, we do not issue checks on Money Market Savings accounts, but you can always transfer funds to your checking and then write a check.

If I've already applied, how can I check the status of my application?

Visit our application status portal to check the status of your application, upload documents, or send us questions or comments. 

How do I add a joint owner to my account?

If you would like to add a new joint owner to your existing membership you have several options:

  • Use the online Add a Joint Owner Application (fastest and easiest).
  • Come into a branch together and a Member Services Representative can assist you. Be sure to bring one form of ID, being a government issued ID such as a U.S. driver's license.
  • Call 520-794-8341 and request that the form be mailed to you.
